As part of its Work Safety Month campaign, Bikita Mineral Pvt Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Bikita Mining”) recently organized three specialized emergency drills covering a hazardous chemical leak, a nighttime fire, and a forklift-related injury. The exercises were designed to strengthen emergency preparedness, test response plans, and support the Company’s safe and stable operations.
On June 18, the flotation plant conducted a hazardous chemical leak response drill. After the simulated incident was reported, the Company activated its emergency plan, and response teams carried out site isolation, personnel evacuation, leak control, containment and recovery, and casualty treatment. The exercise tested the effectiveness of the Company’s hazardous chemical emergency procedures and cross-department coordination.
On the evening of June 24, the Safety and Environment Department organized a nighttime fire drill simulating a fire caused by equipment failure in a production workshop. Emergency teams conducted evacuation, initial firefighting, casualty search and rescue, and coordination of firefighting facilities. Fire extinguisher training was also provided after the drill, with employees practicing the standard operating steps. The exercise strengthened the emergency response capability of night-shift personnel and tested nighttime evacuation procedures and firefighting equipment.
On June 25, the gravity separation plant conducted a forklift injury drill simulating a collision between a forklift and an employee. Operations were immediately suspended, and emergency teams carried out first aid, injury assessment, medical transfer, site control, and traffic management. The drill further improved employees’ ability to respond to vehicle- and machinery-related incidents.
Following the exercises, each participating unit submitted an evaluation report reviewing emergency response procedures, on-site coordination, equipment use, and teamwork. Improvement measures were developed to address identified issues and further enhance the Company’s emergency plans and management system.
The three drills covered key risk areas involving hazardous chemicals, fire safety, and internal vehicle operations. Bikita Mining will continue to uphold the principle of “Safety First, Prevention Foremost, and Comprehensive Management,” and regularly conduct emergency drills, safety training, and hazard inspections to strengthen risk prevention and provide a solid foundation for high-quality development.
