Sinomine Resource Group Chairman Wang Pingwei Meets with President of Zimbabwe

Recently, Wang Pingwei, Chairman and President of Sinomine Resource Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Sinomine”), met with President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the progress of Sinomine’s projects in Zimbabwe, the Company’s future development plans, and measures to further improve the business environment.

During the meeting, Chairman Wang provided President Mnangagwa with a detailed update on Sinomine’s business development in Zimbabwe. He said that Sinomine places great importance on the efficient use and responsible development of mineral resources. In developing the Bikita Mine, the Company has consistently operated in full compliance with Zimbabwean laws and regulations and actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibilities.

Sinomine is currently accelerating the construction of a lithium sulfate plant with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes. The facility is the largest lithium salt plant currently planned in Africa and is expected to make an important contribution to extending Zimbabwe’s lithium value chain. Chairman Wang also expressed appreciation to the Zimbabwean government for restoring lithium concentrate exports.

President Mnangagwa spoke highly of Sinomine’s long-standing contribution to Zimbabwe’s mining sector. He particularly commended the Company’s continued investment and technological innovation in the processing of rare metals such as tantalum, niobium, and cesium at the Bikita Mine.

President Mnangagwa noted that Bikita was the first lithium producer in Zimbabwe to introduce advanced optical sorting technology, setting an important example for the green and intelligent development of the country’s lithium industry. He said that mining is a key pillar of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 and reaffirmed the government’s firm support for responsible, compliant, and high-performing international companies investing in the country’s mining sector.

He expressed the hope that Sinomine would continue to increase its investment in Zimbabwe, further extend the mineral value chain, and make a greater contribution to deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and Zimbabwe.

President Mnangagwa also emphasized that the government would actively assist companies in addressing challenges encountered during their operations, continue improving the business environment, and support the stable development of their projects.

He further encouraged Sinomine to continue leveraging its technical strengths and promote the wider application of advanced mineral processing technologies in Zimbabwe, helping the country build a more competitive, green, and sustainable mining value chain.
