Recently, Wang Zhiwei, Vice President of Sinomine Resource Group Co., Ltd. (“Sinomine Resource”) and General Manager of the South-Central Africa Regional Operations Center, met with Dr. Clement Andeleki, Zambia’s newly appointed Minister of Home Affairs, in Lusaka. The two sides held practical discussions on local employment, visa processing, community security, and the development of towns and communities surrounding the project.

Wang congratulated Dr. Andeleki on his appointment and thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs for its longstanding support of Sinomine Resource’s operations in Zambia. He outlined progress on the Kitumba project and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to compliant operations and strict adherence to Zambian laws and regulations. Sinomine Resource continues to advance local employment and localization, contributing to job creation, tax revenue, and community development while aligning project development with local economic and social progress.
As the Kitumba project advances, Wang expressed hope that the Ministry would continue supporting employee immigration and visa procedures, project security, and coordination with surrounding communities. He emphasized the company’s willingness to participate in local community and town development, fostering mutual progress between business operations, local governance, and community well-being.
Dr. Andeleki commended Sinomine Resource’s investment and development achievements in Zambia. He noted that the project would create jobs, increase tax revenue, and stimulate industrial growth, contributing to Zambia’s target of producing 3 million tonnes of copper annually and supporting the country’s industrial transformation.
In response to the company’s concerns, Dr. Andeleki pledged the Ministry’s continued support, including facilitating work permit applications to ensure personnel can arrive as scheduled. He also committed to coordinating police resources to maintain security and strengthen community governance around the project, helping create a safe and stable operating environment. He added that, as the project develops and matures, the Zambian side is willing to work with the company to support the transformation of surrounding communities into a more developed Kitumba township, better integrating project construction with local urban development and community growth.
Following recent meetings with Zambia’s Ministry of Finance and ZESCO, this visit marks another step in Sinomine Resource’s efforts to build a comprehensive support network for its operations in the country. The meeting, arranged soon after Dr. Andeleki took office, reflects the strong communication and mutual trust between the two sides, while creating more favorable conditions for the steady advancement of the project and the harmonious development of surrounding communities.
