On the morning of October 7, local time, Bikita Mineral Pvt Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Bikita Minerals”) officially commenced a road rehabilitation project linking Sosera Shopping Centre and Ndambani. Representatives of Bikita Minerals, Chief Marozva of Bikita District, village heads and community leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony, witnessing the launch of the project and highlighting the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in developing community infrastructure.

The project covers a four-kilometer road connecting to the Mutare–Masvingo trunk highway and serving eight villages along the route, benefiting approximately 400 households. The road is an essential route for local residents traveling to public facilities such as schools, clinics and livestock dipping tanks. After years of heavy use and inadequate maintenance, the road had deteriorated significantly, making regular public transport difficult. This affected residents’ daily travel and constrained the transportation of local agricultural products to external markets, as well as broader community development.

Upon completion, the rehabilitation project will substantially improve local road conditions, facilitate residents’ daily commutes and the transportation of agricultural products, and strengthen access to essential services. As a key local livelihood initiative, the project represents another important step by Bikita Minerals in advancing sustainable community development and fulfilling its commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.
The project has received broad recognition and positive feedback from the local community. Chief Marozva commended the company for proactively responding to community needs, stating: “We commend Bikita Minerals for consistently caring about the community and actively listening to the needs of local people. This road will fundamentally improve travel conditions, making it easier for residents to access schools, clinics, markets and major transport routes. It is a meaningful livelihood project that will benefit the entire community.”

A public relations officer at Bikita Minerals said: “This road rehabilitation project fully demonstrates our commitment to putting down roots locally, safeguarding community well-being and supporting sustainable development. Improving road infrastructure will not only enhance access to healthcare and education, but also unlock local economic potential and improve transport links between the company and the surrounding communities, strengthening connectivity between the two.”

The road rehabilitation project is an important component of Bikita Minerals’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework and continues the company’s long-standing community investment initiatives. Over the years, the company has implemented a range of livelihood projects, including support for local healthcare facilities, borehole drilling and water access, community assistance, and road rehabilitation. Through targeted social responsibility investments and regular multi-stakeholder communication, Bikita Minerals has continued to strengthen constructive engagement with local communities and traditional leadership, reinforce the foundations of company–community cooperation, respond directly to key community needs, and help build more resilient and vibrant local communities.
Going forward, Bikita Minerals will continue to coordinate with all relevant stakeholders, refine construction plans, define the scope of works and establish delivery arrangements to ensure steady project implementation. Upholding its commitment to responsible and sustainable operations, the company will continue to safeguard the long-term interests of its employees, local communities and all stakeholders, while deepening a model of shared prosperity, collaborative development and mutually beneficial company–community relations.
