On June 16 (local time), Wang Pingwei, Chairman and President of Sinomine Resource Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Sinomine”), met with Han Jing, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, in Lusaka. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the construction progress and future development plans of Sinomine’s Kitumba Copper Project in Zambia.
Chairman Wang provided Ambassador Han with a detailed update on the latest progress of the Kitumba Copper Project. Equipment procurement, civil construction, and equipment installation are currently advancing steadily as planned. Sinomine is making every effort to complete preparations for the commissioning of the processing plant in the third quarter of 2026.

Ambassador Han expressed strong recognition of and support for Sinomine’s investment and development in Zambia. He noted that the Kitumba project has maintained high standards and strict requirements throughout construction, actively adopted green and environmentally responsible technologies, and followed the principles of sustainable development, making it a strong example of an efficient and green mining project.
Ambassador Han said that the project is not only another important achievement of practical cooperation between China and Zambia, but also a vivid reflection of the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries. He encouraged Sinomine to make full use of its strengths, strengthen coordination with other Chinese enterprises operating in Zambia, share development experience, and build greater synergy, thereby further enhancing the collective presence and overall image of Chinese companies in the country.
Chairman Wang responded positively to the Ambassador’s expectations for closer coordination. He said that the Company is currently advancing an integrated development strategy across Southern and Central Africa, with its Zambia project serving as a regional hub extending into neighboring countries and markets. Sinomine will continue to deepen cooperation with Chinese enterprises across the region, promote resource sharing and complementary strengths, and jointly establish a new benchmark for Chinese mining cooperation in Africa.
Chairman Wang noted that Sinomine will take mine development as the starting point and the smelter as a key foundation, while maintaining a long-term approach to investment. In addition to pursuing commercial returns, the Company will actively fulfill its social responsibilities, create substantial local employment, and promote coordinated development across upstream and downstream industries.
He emphasized that Sinomine aims not only to transform the land, but also to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local people. By fulfilling its commitment to “not only changing the land, but also improving lives,” the Company will contribute the strength of a Chinese enterprise to Zambia’s economic and social development.
