Recently, the Zambia Chinese Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards ceremony and reception at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka. Sinomine International Zambia Engineering Co.,LTD (hereinafter referred to as “Sinomine Zambia”) was awarded the 2025 China–Zambia Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Award in recognition of its outstanding contributions to advancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation and promoting local economic and social development.

The ceremony brought together key stakeholders from the China–Zambia economic and trade community. Crusivia Chikumba, Permanent Secretary of Zambia’s Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, attended the event and presented awards to the winning companies. Distinguished guests included Oliver Kalabo, Permanent Secretary of the State House; Wang Li, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia; Liu Xiaomei, Acting Commercial Counsellor; and other embassy officials. Senior representatives from key Zambian government institutions—such as the Zambia Development Agency, the Public–Private Dialogue Forum, the Zambia Revenue Authority, the Police Service, and the Ministry of Labour—were also present. More than 300 leaders from government, business, industry, and the media witnessed the occasion.

During the reception, guests engaged in in-depth discussions on the future of China–Zambia economic and trade cooperation. In his remarks, Permanent Secretary Chikumba spoke highly of the Zambia Chinese Chamber of Commerce for its important role in connecting business communities in both countries and facilitating investment and trade. He emphasized that outstanding enterprises such as the Zambia Subsidiary not only bring capital and technology to Zambia, but also create a large number of jobs and contribute to the improvement and upgrading of local industrial value chains. Such companies, he noted, are a vital force in advancing Zambia’s industrialization and strengthening China–Zambia friendship. He added that the Zambian government will continue to improve the business environment and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and grow in Zambia.

Accepting the award, a representative of the Zambia Subsidiary stated that the recognition is a strong affirmation of the company’s long-term commitment to local development and fulfillment of social responsibility. Guided by the principle of “win-win cooperation and shared development,” the company strictly complies with local laws and regulations, adheres to green and sustainable operations, and actively invests in community development, employee training, and public welfare initiatives. Looking ahead, the company will continue to deepen its presence in Zambia, introduce advanced technologies and management practices, support the development of Zambia’s mining sector and related industries, and contribute to strengthening the all-weather China–Zambia friendship and building a closer China–Africa community with a shared future.
The event not only recognized outstanding enterprises, but also further strengthened consensus among Chinese-funded companies operating in Zambia, injecting strong momentum into the sustained and healthy development of bilateral economic and trade relations in 2026 and beyond.
