On June 4 (local time), Sinomine Tsumeb Smelter Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “Tsumeb Smelter”) officially launched its Work Safety Month campaign in support of China’s National Work Safety Month. Held under the theme “One Team. One Message. One Standard. Compliance Throughout. Zero Harm,” the launch ceremony brought together the Smelter’s management team, department heads, and frontline employee representatives to further strengthen safety awareness and reinforce the foundation for safe operations.
The event began with a presentation by an electrical engineer on electrical safety. Drawing on the Smelter’s operating environment, the session covered safe electrical practices, identification of common hazards, and emergency response procedures, helping employees enhance their understanding of electrical safety and prevent electrical accidents at the source.
During the ceremony, Lou Yonggang, General Manager of the Tsumeb Smelter, reaffirmed the Company's commitment to safety and outlined key priorities for the months ahead.
He emphasized that safety is the Company's most fundamental responsibility and its most important operational principle. Every employee must remain constantly vigilant, strictly follow operating procedures, and work together to establish clearer, more rigorous, and more practical standards. By turning safety into a daily habit and standards into consistent action, the Company can better protect every employee and every family.
One of the most impactful moments of the event came when an employee who had previously experienced a workplace injury shared his personal story. Reflecting on both the physical and emotional consequences of the accident, he spoke candidly about the importance of maintaining strong safety awareness and the serious consequences of unsafe behavior. His testimony left a lasting impression on those in attendance and reinforced the importance of protecting lives through strict compliance with safety requirements.
The Company's Executive Vice President responsible for safety, Ms. Barcelona Tsauses, then delivered a presentation focusing on three key topics: safety, workplace hazards, and on-site safety management. Drawing on her practical experience and lessons learned from past incidents, she analyzed common workplace hazards and shared effective approaches to on-site safety management. She emphasized that systematic and refined management is essential to continuously improving risk prevention and control.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, participating employees shared their reflections on the event and reaffirmed their commitment to putting safety awareness into practice in both their work and daily lives.
The launch ceremony combined policy communication, technical training, and personal experience sharing, further strengthening employees' sense of safety responsibility and emergency preparedness. Throughout Work Safety Month, the Tsumeb Smelter will continue to organize a series of activities, including emergency response drills, hazard identification and remediation campaigns, and safety knowledge competitions, to further embed a strong safety culture and provide a solid foundation for the Company's high-quality development.
